Youth Illustration Club (6-Week Program) April 2 - May 7 | Thursdays 6:00-7:00pm The Youth Illustration Club is a dynamic 6-week program designed for creative tweens and teens who love to draw, design, and tell stories through art. This hands-on class introduces core illustration skills through themes that feel fresh, relevant, and exciting—drawing inspiration from pop culture, fan art, comics, character design, and visual storytelling. By the end of the program, students will complete a series of original illustrations and finish with a personal final piece they’ll be proud to share—perfect for celebrating their creativity. This program is ideal for youth ages 10–16 who are passionate about drawing, illustration, and imaginative worlds, and who want to grow their skills in a supportive, inspiring studio environment. Limited seats available $130 +HST ---------------------------- Week 1 — Drawing Made Easy: Shapes & Confidence Theme: Everything starts with shapes Activities: Warm-up doodle game (draw from silly prompts) Break down objects into circles, squares, triangles “Turn Shapes into Characters” challenge Focus Skills: observation, basic shapes, confidence, loosening up Week 2 — Lines & Expression Theme: Lines can show personality Activities: Line practice (thick, thin, wavy, sketchy) Draw emotions using only lines (happy, angry, tired) Create a simple expressive character using line style Focus Skills: line control, expression, creative mark-making Week 3 — Faces & Simple Characters Theme: Bringing characters to life Activities: Easy face proportions (guidelines made simple) Draw different eyes, mouths, hairstyles Design your own original character Focus Skills: facial features, proportions, character basics Week 4 — Poses & Movement Theme: Making drawings feel alive Activities: Gesture drawing (quick 1-minute poses) Stick figure to full character progression Draw your character in an action pose Focus Skills: movement, body basics, storytelling through pose Week 5 — Style & Storytelling Theme: Your art, your style Activities: Explore styles (cartoon, anime-inspired, comic, etc.) Create a mini scene or moment (fan art or original idea) Add simple background elements Focus Skills: style exploration, composition, storytelling Week 6 — Final Illustration Project Theme: Create something you’re proud of Activities: Plan a final illustration (character + setting) Sketch, refine, and finish with colour or ink
